As you all know (because I keep writing about it every 2 months) is that I am trying to come up with a way for others to create their own personal knowledge base and to tell people the importance of it.

Basically, in theory, by telling potential employers that you have a knowledgebase of data on your specific career choice, you are showing them that you can answer tough questions and are up to date on current issues in the field. It also shows what you were DOING something while your time unemployed (or even while you are employed). Trust me when I say this: the longer you are unemployed, the harder it is to find employement.

This is what I did:
joeKnowledge: Education for ALL
The Meaning of Having A Personal Knowledgebase

The idea behind Knowledge JobNET is that people on this group blog specifically speak about career oriented subjects like workplace environments, education, resume tips, writing skills... basically things that make you employable. What I am hoping will happen is that employers will post their jobs here as well.

Its just an idea. Not sure this can work in blog form. Then again, job posting sort of act blog like with entries according to date or relevance.

The thing about blogging, even blogging about work, can make potential employers not want to hire you because 'you know too much' about your rights, but then again, by knowing about these issues (workplace violence for example) makes you a smarter employee.

So here is the run down:
Knowledge Net - A place where you can share articles, create knowledge on a topic or respond to a posting to add to the post so that we all benifit from the total. Knowledge Net is mostly career oriented (jobs, unemployment, workplace environment, education, investment, 401K, business, development, contract jobs, unions, health insurance, life insurance, dress attire, shopping tips, resumes, work tips, organizational behavoir, human resources, internal marketing, housing/rent/lease, moving to find work), you can also post current events, news and politics (all of which effects business and therefor effects you)

JTB Development - For developers who are trying to make something. ANYTHING. Web design, computers, skinning, business, and so on.

Knowledge Job NET - Totally career orientated with job postings, people blogging about current job searches or posting something (as long as it can be reposted - some employers do not want their job posts placed somewhere else). You can also post reumess to be critically looked at or commented on.

This is, hopefully something that will help others. I know eventually it will help me, at least in organizing info from school and what I learned on-line.

I would also suggest getting blog navigator. Very useful in posting and archiving websites you want to save. That would be very useful for reports, research or to find an answer to an already asked question.

I would suggest while doing your job searching to also do some researching on what you actually want to do and store that data on your blog (whether privately or publicly like me).

I'm playing around with the idea of people doing this together and creating one big knowledge base on careers, social topics, and life. If you want, you can join here
Eventually, joeKnowledge the website will be a hub with all this activity. You will be able to create a portfolio (showing your work), a resume and of course your links archive. #3 ways of showing how good you are. It will be a place for news, career talk, job search and other convo...

In some ways a website called InDeed is doing part of what I want to do:
InDeed.com
Its like a big search engine for jobs. You can even make a rss feed for the type of job your looking for. I think it is in Beta right now.

So basically you would have your blog, with a knowledge archive, a searchable resume, a working porfolio and a RSS feed search letting you know immeditely what's new in the career choice of yours.

I hope I can develope this. I was in school learning about databases and asp, but that is a long story as to why I am not in school now. The good news is I'll be going back either in July or September and then I will learn how to set up the site the way I want to.

I am even thinking of asking Froboy how much would it cost to use their blogging technolgy on my site. Well, anyway, the best laid plans...
