You TOO Can Be A User Page Focus Article
Published on January 12, 2005 By joeKnowledge In Community

That's Right!!! You might have said to yourself, "Wow, those WinCusto User Page articles are cool, but I'll never get one." Firstly, thank you for saying that they are cool and secondly you might just see your page as a focus. Why?

Here is how you get chosen:

  • Have a WinCustomize user page
  • Recommend other articles and skins
  • Comment on skins, forum posts (positive ones), and other basic user activity
  • Write articles
  • Make skins
  • Make screenshots of your desktop

Basically, anyone around here with a pulse can be in the user page focus. LOL

You don't have to ask, I just go around and pick. (oh and no I do not have to be the only one who does this *HINT HINT* I can co-ordinate with others if anyone is interested. Just email me at pmg@joeknowledge.com or sign my guestbook and say something about helping out. We can work together so our posts so we don't repeat stuff)

You can see some of who will get one in my About page and Guest Book entries.

For moreThe idea behind all of this is to promote more interactive-ness; The more positive interaction the better. The other idea behind this is to create a network of links, postings and most of all knowledge that we can gain from each other. There are a lot of useful items on this site from DesktopX widgets to Rainlender calendars. You can ALSO get valued information from article posts from many members of this website and Joe User. Plus the message forums provide a place to write too and maybe find out some stuff as well.

I am saying all of this for a reason (hopefully). When you click the link provided below, you'll find yourself going to my WinCusto User site where recommendations are at. (Plenty of them too, from skins to articles). My hopes is by doing this, people will have recommendations on their user pages, write stuff, and other interactive goodies. PLUS with all these user page foci, people get to see just what is going on around here.

You can search through the text for useful information using Google toolbar in IE (or MSN and Yahoo) by typing in the text in the text search field and then click on highlight. For example, the image on the right shows a word highlighted using Google. If you’re looking for something in particular on any page, you can use this technique.

Also, not to leave FireFox users out (not sure about Opera), you can do this in FireFox using its native search page field. If you notice in the image all the way on top, at the bottom of the FireFox browser you can see a search box with some buttons. By hitting the "/" button (make sure you are not in a text field within the webpage) on your key board, it will bring up the browser search page feature.

Here is a closer look:

Now, one the search bar comes up, you can put the text your looking for within it, and then look for it... simple.

You can use this technique for any web page your on that has a lot of content on one page. For example, lets say you have a account and you are looking for something on the page. You can use this method to find it. This would be almost necessary when the links (along with comments) on a page get bigger than 40.

So you want to be a User Page Focus?
